A Defined Path Forward

How a custom storage project moves from an idea to installation

The process begins by understanding the room, the belongings and the result the homeowner wants. Measurements and site conditions shape the layout; the layout determines components, finish and estimate. Before work proceeds, the proposed design, included scope, homeowner preparation and installation arrangements should be clear in writing.

01

Tell us about the project

Submit the room type, Brampton postal code, approximate timing and a description of what is not working. Wide photos of the room and current storage help explain door openings, windows, vents, trim and nearby furniture.

You do not need to design the solution yourself. Focus on the belongings that need a place and the improvements that matter most.

02

Consultation and measurements

The consultation explores storage categories, daily routines, appearance preferences and practical constraints. Approximate measurements may support an initial conversation, but final dimensions and site conditions should be verified before approval.

Existing electrical, heating, access panels and door clearances must remain part of the discussion.

03

Layout and design decisions

The proposed layout assigns space to hanging, shelves, drawers, shoes, appliances, equipment or other room-specific categories. Door operation, circulation and comfortable reach are reviewed alongside visual balance.

Finish, front style, hardware and accessories are selected after the functional priorities are understood.

04

Written scope and estimate

The estimate should identify the included components, finish direction, removal or preparation, installation and any exclusions. Ask how design revisions, scheduling, cleanup and warranty terms are handled.

If the project needs adjustment, compare changes against the original storage priorities rather than removing components at random.

05

Preparation and installation

Personal belongings normally need to be removed. Requirements for existing shelving, patching, painting, electrical work or access should be confirmed before the installation date.

Protect adjacent areas and keep the work zone accessible according to the agreed arrangements.

06

Final walkthrough

Review doors, drawers, shelves, hardware and the completed layout. Confirm care information and raise any questions while the full scope is easy to compare with the finished project.

The walkthrough is also the time to understand any adjustable components and how they can be repositioned later.

Process Questions

What to know before the project moves forward

Do I need to know the exact layout before requesting a consultation?

No. Begin with the room, storage problem and priorities. The layout should develop from measurements, categories and site conditions.

When are final measurements taken?

Approximate measurements may support the first discussion, but final dimensions and relevant site conditions should be verified before design approval.

What should the written scope include?

It should identify the layout, components, finish direction, preparation, removal, installation, exclusions and the terms that apply to the project.

What should I review during the final walkthrough?

Review doors, drawers, shelves, hardware, alignment, adjustable components, care information and the completed scope.
